Yoga and Meditation are age old traditions first developed in India over 4,000 years ago.
The term Yoga means union in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India.
In the Indian language, there are many words that incorporate the word yoga in them.
Yoga as it is known in the western world generally refers to a form of exercise most associated with
stretching, flexibility and meditation.
While this is true, there are still many kinds of yoga.
Hatha yoga literally means union of the sun and the moon. In Sanskrit, the sun and the moon
represent two energies much like ying and yang in Chinese refer to two opposite but connected energies.
Other popular forms include Kundalini and Ashtanga.
One of the key aspects of Yoga is breathing.
According to the ancient Yogis in India, your life was not a length of time but more so how many breaths you take.
They understood that breathing is key because the lungs are the only involuntary muscle in the body
that we can control. This very reason makes it a very powerful mind body connector.
Coupling the practice of Yoga with imagery or hypnosis can be even more powerful and life changing.
The support they can lend to each other is nearly infinite.
